Sainte-Justine University Hospital Center

The CHU Sainte-Justine neurofibromatosis clinic was founded in the 1980s by Dr. Albert Larbrisseau. Under his leadership, it has become one of North America’s leading specialized clinics for NF1 patients and their families, offering specialized expertise and care. It supports over 300 children and their families. In addition to the medical examination, special attention is paid to the child’s development. In 2013, Dr. Sébastien Perreault joined the clinic and, more recently, Lucie Côté, became the clinic’s pivot nurse and coordinator.

Since 2015, the clinic has been part of the Centre intégré du réseau en neurodéveloppement de l’enfant (CIRENE), enabling early detection of developmental disorders and rapid intervention. Depending on needs, patients can be assessed for physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy. Care is also coordinated to facilitate follow-up with the clinic’s other specialists, notably in neuro-ophthalmology, dermatology, genetics and orthopedics.
